How do online lessons work

Do Online Voice Lessons Work?

(Spoiler: Yes — beautifully.)

Online voice lessons are just as effective as in-person sessions when done correctly—and they’re often even more convenient. All you need is a computer or tablet, a strong internet connection, and Zoom, and we’ll train your voice as if you were right here in the studio with me.

During your lesson, I’ll play scales and exercises on the piano in real time, guiding you exactly as I would in person. Because there can sometimes be a slight delay over video, you’ll sing a cappella or along with your own backing tracks, which I can provide for you. The coordination, precision, and progress you gain will be exactly the same—you just get to enjoy it from the comfort of your home (or studio… or even tour bus).

Why Singers Love Online Lessons

  • Train from anywhere in the world. I work with singers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Europe, and beyond.
  • Same expert feedback, no commute. I can still hear every detail in your tone, balance, and coordination—just as in person.
  • Flexible scheduling. Online sessions allow more time options for busy singers, touring artists, or those in different time zones.
  • Comfort and confidence. Practice in your own space, record every lesson, and track your growth over time.

Tips for a Great Online Lesson

  1. Find a quiet space with minimal background noise.
  2. Use a stable internet connection and make sure your Zoom app is updated.
  3. Play your backing tracks from a separate device (like a phone or Bluetooth speaker) so your teacher can still hear your voice clearly.
  4. Have water nearby and your recording device ready—reviewing your lessons later will accelerate your progress.

Best Zoom Audio Settings for Singing (2025 Update)

To get the best sound quality, open your Zoom Audio Settings and adjust:

  • ✅ Turn on “Original Sound for Musicians”
  • ✅ Check High-Fidelity Music Mode
  • ✅ Uncheck “Automatically adjust microphone volume”
  • ✅ Keep input volume around 70–75%
  • ✅ Turn off Echo Cancellation if you’re using headphones

(On mobile or tablet: Go to “Meetings” → toggle ON “Use Original Audio.” Once in your session, turn on “Original Sound for Musicians.”)

What Singers Are Saying

What Singers Are Saying

“I wasn’t sure how much Chelsea could actually hear through a screen—but wow. Within minutes, she pinpointed exactly why my voice was flipping and gave me an exercise that fixed it. I’ve studied with teachers in person for years, and this was honestly the most specific feedback I’ve ever gotten.”
James, Recording Artist (Los Angeles, USA)

“As a working musician in London, my schedule is all over the place. Online lessons with Chelsea fit perfectly into my routine, and the results speak for themselves. My tone feels more consistent across gigs, and I’ve learned to manage fatigue better than ever before.”
Oliver, Touring Vocalist (London, UK)

“I was skeptical about online lessons at first, but it feels no different than being in the same room. Chelsea’s explanations are clear, the exercises are customized, and she actually teaches you how to understand your voice instead of just copying sounds. My range and control have completely changed.”
Tara, Contemporary Singer-Songwriter (Nashville, USA)

“From across the world, Chelsea has helped me rebuild my confidence and rediscover my voice after years of tension. Her methodical approach makes everything click, even online. The progress I’ve made with mix and stamina has been unbelievable.”
Lachlan, Pop/R&B Artist (Sydney, Australia)

“Online lessons have been a game-changer. I’m a part-time performer in Chicago, and having access to Chelsea between gigs (or during!) has kept my voice healthy and balanced. I love that she sends exercise clips after each session so I can practice efficiently while I’m on the road.”
Marcus, Performer (Chicago, USA)

Quick Tip for Absolute Beginners 🎵

If you’re brand new to singing and sometimes struggle to match pitch—don’t worry, that’s completely normal! Hearing and reproducing pitch is a trainable skill. We’ll start with simple call-and-response exercises, use piano or reference tones to strengthen your ear, and focus on coordination before perfection.

After each session, I’ll send you custom practice exercises to reinforce what we worked on and help you stay consistent between lessons. You’ll also have the option to record your Zoom sessions so you can review your progress, revisit feedback, and track how your voice improves week by week.

Most singers are amazed at how quickly their pitch accuracy and vocal control improve once their voice is balanced, tension-free, and supported by consistent practice.
